... and I’ll bet this is the first time this topic has ever brought up...:D

On my Subway 115 cabs, the spring-loaded handles make a very loud bang when they are released.

I know, right? Thinking “you gotta be kidding!” yet?

And it’s not a big deal at all. Except that I recently set the cabs up in a ballroom where a meeting was taking place on the other side of the air wall. Someone from that meeting came over and admonished me for “the disturbing racket” to which I replied “I bought and paid for this part of the room, I’ll make noise if I like!” Actually, I did neither...

But has anyone thought about adding some foam under the handles to quieten that loud report of the handles popping against the cab?

Yeah, I hate to admit it, but I’m (kinda) serious....:D

    Thanx, I think...:roflmao:

(Oh, yeah...LUV, LUV, LUV these cabinets!!)

Yeah don’t let them slam down for sure! They are spring loaded so they stay in place and won’t rattle.

Put a strip of Velcro, not the hook side, and allow the handle to slam into that. Should quieten down the noise. :)

    And courtesy is never wasted.

This is actually the preferred solution, which works very well.

Excellent idea. I have a few rolls of the adhesive Velcro laying around. The really wide stuff, too.

  6. You COULD just not let go of them? Guide them back down to the parked position. Or upgrade to the new servo-driven ones. They do require a separate power supply.

All it takes is a narrow strip where the rubber handle pad rests. 3/4" is plenty wide.

Have you actually heard them being released? Mind you, I’m not complaining, but even released very close to the resting position, they make a fairly loud bang. I wouldn’t have really ever worried about it further if Projector Boy and his Bow Tie and bony finger hadn’t gotten on my case about it at the hotel that day.

The semantics can be debated all day. I want to quieten the damn things down...:D:D

(Lucky me, I have the 3/4/wide Velcro on hand)

The suggestion of the fuzzy Velcro strips under the rubber part of the handles has proven to work very well.

Those work too. A little less finger friendly, but another good solution.
